Down Syndrome Symposium: Thriving in School and Early Adolescence

Down Syndrome Symposium: "Thriving Through School & Early Adolescence"

This event, set for World Down Syndrome Day on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, aims to explore how children with Down syndrome between the ages of 6 through to 12 can flourish during these formative school years.

We'll achieve this through three engaging panels:

Families Panel: Parents sharing personal stories about navigating primary and secondary education transitions, social challenges, sibling dynamics, puberty, and preparing for the next life stage.

School & Therapy Panel: Insights from professionals on private vs. public streams, SEN support, inclusive education, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and the ongoing role of therapists in bridging families and schools

Community Panel: Showcasing organizations that provide practical support, encouragement, and resources for independence and inclusion, such as inclusive sports and creative programs.

WHY ATTEND?

Be Inspired! Connect with the Down Syndrome community, including families and the professionals who support them during school years
Learn: Understand the unique challenges and opportunities during ages 6–12, including school transitions and adolescence
Hear from experts: Therapists, education and community professionals will share insights on navigating school inclusion, wellbeing and early pathways to independence

We look forward to welcoming you from 9:30 am onwards on Saturday, 21st March 2026!
